POEM 1

maybe…

a dog chased a frog into a sink hole

where a

lad led his dad to the lost soul

when the…

dad stretched his strong arm for a rescue

frightened frog feared the shadow on the fescue

faithful

father pushed ahead with his plan

as deep in the hole; he thrust his hand

he was thwarted by a root where the frog hunkered down

just a’shakin’ in his warts; where his smile had turned to frown

but dad c/sh/wouldn’t quit; so he dug around the dirt

this wise surprise saved the prisoner from his hurt

now…it’s free frog, free frog;

shrewd about the dog;

now he shares his meals on a sturdy, solid blog.

POEM 2

The Frog

I don’t quite remember how I got here in this place
I just remember doing the things that come quite naturally to me
And then the next thing I know is that it is dark and cold and confined
I see the light occasionally but all it does is remind
Me of the days I used to have, that I could have had
I have been here so long that I am almost comfortable here
It has become so familiar, so ordinary that I…….
I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to pray, or even if it would matter.
What is this that causes these thoughts to scatter?
A shadow that takes away what little light I could see?
What is this form that so frightens me?
He reaches down on bended knee
Did I hear Him say, “Set this one free”?
No, surely He comes to take my life
Surely He comes to take everything I have, everything I know
I fight and fight until I can fight no more
Then feel the fingers that made me grasp me in His love
I raise my head to look above
And suddenly I am basked in sunlight, I see His tree
I am free                                                          kdc 8-14-08

POEM 3

Hopping along happy and free
When I hopped into a hole I did not see
At first I thought "this ain't so bad"
But reality soon set in and now I am sad
No food, no drink, no light I see
Guess I'll just die in this hole, unless someone finds me
Yes I am small and insignificant too
But I finally looked up and I saw You
Reaching down in my hole with Your great big hand
You pulled me out and set me back on the land
You asked nothing in return for what You had done
But I told all my friends that You were the One
The One who could be trusted to get us out of our hole
Forgive us our sins and restore our soul
Now once again I can hop right along
Smiling, humming, even singing a song
It's great to be happy and to truly be free
And I thank You, how I thank You for saving a frog, like me.
